How can we help?

Answers to common questions about Mindful Haven. Can’t find what you need? Get in touch — a real person reads every message.

Getting started

Which story should I start with?

Pick by what keeps you up. For a racing mind try Counting Breaths or An Alpine Meadow at Night; if you can’t put the phone down, Body Scan for Sleep or The Night Flight Home; for worries, A Cabin in the Snow or The Harbour at Dusk; and if noise is the problem, Rain on the Tent or Night Train North. Your onboarding plan also suggests one for tonight.

Do I need to keep the screen on?

No. Press play, lock your phone and put it down. Mindful Haven keeps playing in the background, and you can pause or stop from the lock screen.

Can I listen without a story?

Yes. Choose the just sounds card on the Stories tab, or tap any soundscape on the Sounds tab. Sound-only sessions go straight to the gentle fade.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. All stories and sounds are built into the app, so it works in airplane mode, on a flight or in a tent.

Playback & settings

How do I change how long the sound plays after the story?

Open Settings and choose a fade-out length — the mix thins out and switches off over that time (30 minutes by default). Choose All night to keep a soft layer of sound playing until morning.

The story keeps repeating. Is that normal?

Yes — if you are still awake, the story begins again after a short silence. It repeats 3 times by default. You can change the number of repeats in Settings, or choose to repeat until you stop it.

The voice is too loud or too quiet compared with the sounds.

Adjust voice volume in Settings. You can also turn ducking on or off — when on, the soundscape dips while the narrator speaks.

I paused and the sound stopped completely.

To save battery, playback switches off if it stays paused for more than 30 seconds. Press play again and the story continues from the sentence where you left off.

How do I make and save my own mix?

On the Sounds tab, add up to 8 sounds, set each one’s volume, then tap the heart to save. You can keep up to 12 mixes.

I don’t get my bedtime reminder.

Check that the reminder is turned on in the app and that notifications for Mindful Haven are allowed in your phone’s Settings → Notifications. Focus or Do Not Disturb modes may also hide it. The reminder arrives 30 minutes before the bedtime you chose.

The app asked about the microphone. Why?

Mindful Haven never records or listens. Apple requires a microphone description because of the audio library the app uses to play sound. You can safely decline any microphone prompt. See our Privacy Policy.

Your data

Do I need an account? Is my data backed up?

No account is needed. Your listening history, sleep journal, mixes and settings are stored only on your phone and are included in your device or cloud backup if you use one. We don’t keep a copy on any server. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app from your device permanently removes all Mindful Haven data. Because nothing is stored on our side, there is nothing else to delete.

Wellbeing

Can Mindful Haven treat insomnia?

Mindful Haven is a relaxation app, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. If poor sleep goes on for weeks, or you notice loud snoring, pauses in breathing or heavy daytime sleepiness, please talk to a healthcare professional. Never listen while driving or operating machinery.
